Trauma Therapist in Seattle and across washington

Let’s lift up what is authentically you.

JAMILA IRAQUI, M.Ed., LPC, LMHC

It’s possible to feel at ease after anxiety, burn-out and trauma.

I’m Jamila, EMDR and Trauma Therapist in Seattle, Washington. I work with Gen Z and Millennial women who want to connect with the wonder and awe in themselves and get tools to feel more comfortable in managing big feelings.

I’m passionate and committed to providing a safe place where you get to say what is really on your mind, process the difficult things, and shift into a place where you feel like you have choices, can be grounded in the present moment, and have direction for the future.

WELCOME

At the core of my approach to therapy is a belief that the pace of your healing matters.

Life in modern day society can get busy. There is so much to respond to, show up for, and do, it can feel like we all have the weight of the world on our shoulders. In therapy, there is no pressure to keep everything together or hold your emotions in. Sessions are an emotionally safe space to speak your truth without the concern of others knowing about it, problem solve situations you feel stuck in, and get a better understanding of what your emotions are trying to communicate to you. There are ways to partner with our bodies so that emotions aren’t always overwhelming, we can understand what your body is trying to say.

I graduated with a bachelors in Community Psychology and a minor in Education and Society from the University of Washington.

I wanted to broaden my counseling skills to be able to work in different settings such as agencies, schools, or other practices. I found the perfect mix of this at the University of Puget Sound where I completed my masters in Education with a focus on School and Mental Health Counseling.

I have done my work within community mental health agencies, non-profits, public schools, tribal communities, university settings, and private practice.

HEre’s what I believe about therapy:

This isn't about becoming someone "different."

The best investment you can make is in yourself.

You are inherently deserving of healthy, loving relationships with yourself and others.

What it’s like to work with me

The stories we hold and the experiences we have matter.

I am intentional about the pace, safety, and various feelings within each client I’m working with. Each lens inside someone is important and has space inside the therapy room.

At the end of each session, I give invitations (similar to mini homework assignments) that are optional to try out in nature, at home, or within communities to support the connection you have to yourself, the environment around you, and make progress on your therapy goals.

Therapy can be different depending on each person. It can be more structured or flexible. Scheduling works in a similar fashion. Recurring sessions and “scheduling as you go” are available via a client portal.

Clients have said that they feel completely accepted in the therapy room, not judged, and have been able to learn more about their minds and bodies.

Therapy is a deeply personal experience and can feel vulnerable.

I value the wisdom that comes from intuition and honor the pace of my clients. You will never be pressured to talk about something you are uncomfortable with. Choice is important, especially when working through heavy topics. Some people stay in therapy for short bursts, long term, or come in and out as needed.

You have autonomy!
