Heal from Trauma & Find Relief
If you’re here, you’re probably struggling with trauma and you’re ready for your life to get better.
EMDR can help you transform your relationship with your past, present, and future.
EMDR may be right for you if…
You have experienced a single traumatic event, complex and multiple traumas, recent traumas, anxiety, depression, PTSD, etc.
You’ve experienced big and little traumas.
You are ready to do deeper work, to work through mental health concerns that feel ongoing or to process life events that make you feel stuck.
Traumatic invalidation because of sexism. (consider more options like this)
You feel like certain past experiences aren’t resolved.
You feel stuck in your healing process.

What it’s like?
EMDR Therapy helps people heal from trauma that feels stuck in the mind and body.
With EMDR, individuals are able to remember and recall challenging memories without getting triggered or having a softened emotional reaction.
EMDR is also used for things people worry about happening in their future.
EMDR isn't talk therapy, so you don’t need to focus on language to process your trauma. We can process trauma using images, sights, smells, or sounds. This is helpful if you are more visual in the way of expressing, you may not feel confident in your language skills, or you are more shy.
Sometimes there aren’t words for experiences.
Because EMDR uses eye movements to activate both sides of the brain, it allows you to both explore the memory and also still be in the present moment.
You can remember the traumatic memory while still having control over our body (our eyes) at the same time.
Your body can stay in the present, so you don’t get sucked into the past
EMDR Therapy can help. Through this process…
You will be able to have a memory without getting sucked into it.
Your stress response is able to be processed and therefore doesn’t follow you around.
Your brain and body can release emotions that have been trapped.
The emotional charge of a memory goes down.

Common questions about EMDR Therapy
-
The healing process with EMDR can be fast or slow. Some clients report feeling instant relief. What was triggering no longer has an impact on them. They can think about the triggering person, experience, or event without the feelings of anxiety, panic, or stress.
At times EMDR can be slower. This depends on how your brain and body has stored the stressor and what the stressor is connected to. Are we working with one trauma or multiple? Is it individual to you or generational? In some cases we need more time to process the heavy things. That is totally okay, your pace is important and does not deserve to be rushed.
-
Yes, EMDR is highly effective virtually.
If someone is unable to do the eye movements, we have other bi-lateral movements we can do.
-
When something is traumatic, there is a lasting response.
Some people experience panic attacks, swamped in shame, shocked, a need to isolate, or a deep sadness that feels unbearable.
The event can feel too big to process.
-
In doing trauma work, sometimes you may feel worse before you start to feel better. This can be for many reasons, some being:
Sometimes we store events in our minds and bodies because they’re too painful to think about. We store for a reason. When you begin to uncover these, it can feel like a time capsule of emotion.
Your past coping skills may show up. We all have coping skills we’ve used in the past to help us get through tough times. This could be “sweeping things under the rug”, avoiding certain thoughts or situations to not get triggered, unconsciously avoiding, or feeling numbed out (one of our bodies defense mechanisms). These may resurface as you process your trauma.
Settling into your body can be difficult, especially if you feel like it would be safer to leave. At times, you may start feeling so anxious that it feels hard to come down into your body.
